DXM06 / 09 question

so i currently have an AVE DJ6 mixer... very cheap, serving me well.. but i want to upgrade. Been sort of interested in the DXM-06 and/or 09. After reading reviews, it seems the upfaders don't last long on the DXM-06 and can't be replaced, only the X-Fader can be. Is this the same for the DXM-09? also. i can't quite see from any pictures what is on the front of the mixer, i see a few knobs and headphone jacks, my point is im a bit of a mobile DJ and have a console/case which i doubt i will have access to the front of.. maybe... i know this gets asked heaps but im struggling. What are my options for i suppose absolute max 600AUD? The effects on the dxm06/09 are arousing my interest, is there that much of a difference between the two mixers to justify the 2-300 price increase? i'm reasonably open to suggestions.

Hope you can help me out!!

Can't really answer your Q's but surely the faders can be replaced, just need to be able to get the parts from the manufacturer.

I don't know what you consider "long" but I've had 06 for 2 years now and there's nothing wrong with the faders yet. It's been in use pretty much every day too.

its true about the upfaders, but u shuldnt reli have a problem with them as they are digital. my mate has the dxm06 his upfaders went but that was after it took a whole bowl of cereal over it.

i personally have the dxm09 and im very impressed. there are quite a few differences between the mixers. the obvious ones are the extra channel and the level meters. the kills are also different and the cueing system. the 09 has fader start options and a cue tone knob which i personally think is pointless. the effects are also different, on the dxm06 u have 2 banks of 6 effects, 6 of these can be placed on the upfader channels ad the other 6 can only be placed on the mic input. on the dxm09 its drifferent u again have the 2 banks of 6 effects but all the effects can be assigned to any source or channel, so can actually use all 12 rather just 6 to effect the music like the dxm06. u also have a high pass and a low pass on the dxm09 where as the dxm06 only has lowpass, it can do this because of the ability to switch between 2 banks for all sources.

bare in mind the dxm09 was realsed a good couple of years after the dxm06 so therefore it is a slight improvement on it so although being in the same mixer family they do work slightly different.

hope that makes sense and ive helped slightly?

yeah you have helped! thanks heaps. i think i might struggle with either of the numarks only because of the rack/console i use... don't think i will fit either of them in, like an inch or so too long if my memory/calcuations are right. all makes sense, i am looking into it still thanks mate

nutsan - does the fader start on the DXM09 work with just numark cd players, or does it work with pioneer cd players as well?

im not too sure never used it. i can't see any reason why it wouldn't work with other makes, i think its quite a generic connection.

I used the 06 a couple years ago for a little while - no problems at all ... in fact the effects were very easy to use and the mixer was pretty damn good for a Newmark
