ADSL 2 - Help Please

Okay.

Moved to lygon st.

Need ADSL 2 connection.

approx 30GB - 50GB download cap

only wanna pay about $80 - $90 per month

A) do i need to pay line rental with telstra/optus?
B) is there an ISP plan that involves line rental, but still keeping costs down?
C) Which is relieable and most cost effective?

All the reading about it is doing my head in.

put those same requirements into www.whirlpool.net

problem i found with adsl 2 in sydney, which is why i haven't switched. Is that the ISP what you to put your line rental through them, this would have increased my rental by $10 a month, plus the extra for getting adsl 2, so yea i'm waiting till i can get adsl 2 and keep my current landline rental. A few people are offering it, but not in my area

yeah i think the dsl2 services are on a seperate service to the pre existing telstra services in the exchange in the area. hence why you need a seperate line to the one you already have now.. btw im envious. die a slow death.

No, the ADSL companies (to my understanding) are using their own dedicated lines.. as far as I know - the dsl2 lines are NOT leased from telstra.. hence why dsl2 is a bit cheaper than adsl, because it doesnt include the cost of the linelease from hell$tra. Give iinet or someone who does ADSL2 a call..

well you do need a phone line.......
and it's NOT a seperate phone line for adsl2, it's just it doesnt use the telstra dslam's, it uses dslam put in by other company. (ie it's just different on the exchange end)

no it's cheaper because you're not paying the ridiculous fees telstra charge for ports on their dslam.

but definitely look at whirlpool, and find a company that's right for you, also you can read feedback on them in the forums.... and prolly worth checking out what bundling options that company has too (do companies include line rental as part of bundling these days too??)

lol well it's nothing to do with lines but rather equipment in the exchange

now just dont let telstra do their proposed FTTN network, or you can say goodbye to using other company's dslams. ARGH.
