Unhappy Timbaland ripping off trance?

When Justin Timberlake came out with "Sexy Back," basically a song mimicing the early "techno" fad in 1991 LA, I was thinking "oh no, I hope hip-hop scene doesn't jump on this bandwagon."

But oh they did...listen in horror (Timbaland - "The Way I Are"):

Timbaland must have got ahold of a cliche progressive trance track from 1999 after someone took him to his first rave, accidentally played it at 33rpm when it should have been played at 45rpm, and decided to sample Justin Timberpoodle, a rapper and a chick, and call it hip-hop.

By the way in certain parts of the song the hoover sound and the kick gradually "unquantize" from each other at the end of every 8-beat loop. I think that was done on purpose. =(

It's bad enough when DJs spin trance and SCRATCH over it. But please don't slow it down, rap to it, and call it hip-hop. Thanks.

DISCLAIMER: Sorry to have this be my first MD thread, and I like listening to hip-hip and trance...but together at the same time? Ehhhhhh

[edit] So, therefore, in conclusion, in summary, why is this track popular when any given trance track is not in the US?

[edit2]Here's some quotes from reviews and blogs of people whom I have no affiliation with. Seems they understand the link between the song and trance too (this is in reference to the replies saying I have no idea what I'm talking about when linking this song to trance):

quote:
...The first two-thirds of the album are front-loaded with the kind of futuristic club beats his rep rests on, and some of them-- the berserk Bootsy-meets-Thomas Dolby-by-way-of-Basement Jaxx house-funk of "Release" and the "The Way I Are", which sounds like "Push It" gone trance-- are straight-up jaw-droppers...

SOURCE

quote:
...I'm a fan of “The Way I Are;” with its trance-y keyboard line, it's clearly a musical sequel to “My Love."...

SOURCE

quote:
...A slim number of tracks off this album really show Timbaland’s virtuosity and ingenious creativity. “Way I Are,” another club track infusing house and trance together,...

lol...I wasn't serious. He just ripped of the generic hoover sound & arpeggio loop. Very common sound in late 90s prog trance era. I'm sure if I dig, I can come up with a dozen songs that sound exactly the same.

I think he did a good job getting the beats out to the hip hop crowd.

Yeah but the stereotypical hip-hop/pop crowd doesn't care for EDM anymore than they did before.

Haha, listen to the lead synth. Points to the first person to name the song it's ripping off. No, I'm not talking about a Progressive House tune, I'm talking older hip-hop.

timbaland is actually a respectable producer...i don't see why trance should have a monopoly of synth sounds. hell his tracks use synths in a lot more tasteful way then a lot of trance producers...
