Review: Steve Lawler @ Cielo
ok...where to begin...still pretty wired on booze and redbull..simply put, i have officially been LAWLERFIED ..this was easily one of the best parties ever been to...nice size crowd that was polite
got there round 1030, no line got in nice and easy and the place was pretty empty but the warm up DJ was on the decks spinnin some nice thumpin beats...was my first time @ cielo and i couldnt have been happier..nice smokin patio, aesthetically pleasing yet functional (and very effective :crazy lighting, freakin awesome sound (i left with absolutely no ringing in my ears)and tons of room to sit...really loved the intimate vibe and i got to share a coupla words with lawler while he was on the decks, which was awesome...
think he came on around quarter before midnight cause the place erupted as this absolutely spine tingling bassline dropped and then he was off...
now ive only listened to a few of his livesets but the sound quality was mediocre so the bass didnt come through at all..and umm yea that bassline is real important..
i cant ID any tracks really, except for the two that he told me cause i asked...Pete Heller - Simpler (Steve Lawler edit), and Rodamaal - Insomnia (Ame Mix) both of which totally set the place off ..the best way i could describe it would be a near flawless blend of dark, evil sounding beats and basslines with interludes of haunting melodies and voices that just built into another MASSIVE bassline being unleashed on the crowd...he finished at 340am with a fair number of people still wanting more...me among em lol
anyway overall it was an AWESOME way to spend a Sunday evening...now to sleep, no work tomorrow ...
