So I spin on the radio at my college, and my previous manager was cool with playing pretty much whatever you want. Like, even though my show was technically supposed to be trance I was spinning progressive house almost 99% of the time. Anyway, this coming year I was given a funky/electro house show on top of that, and the new manager really sticks to his guns about genres, etc. and will notice if I'm playing my regular stuff on the new radio show. So, any ideas you guys have for tunes I can spin that have a beat and won't make the manager pissy (this show is primetime for parties on campus)? Hehe. I'm thinking of stuff that like Desyn Masiello, Sander Kleinenberg, Lee Burridge, etc. would play and doing a combination of that.

genre locked for the lose. you're already screwed. show should be built around the tracklist, not the otherway around.

It's a radio show that has specific genres for each show. Each show has a name and a specific style associated with it. Generally I was able to get around it last year, but this new guy's a pain in the ass. So you're changing your style just to be able to play? Simply lol. Now that's what is wrong with most of the radio shows. Personally i'm sticking with my genre and i don't give a damn about the " manager's ". I was playing 3 years on the radio at my univercity and from the very first moment i said i'd play trance. They tested me and i passed and that's what i was playing. Even when i moved to a professional radio,i was still playing trance. The manager of that radio told me some bullshits that the music was too hard for that particullar time. Even then i sticked with trance and as someone would guess,after the season i left the radio.

And you really want to know what kind of music is being played right now in that radio at the specific time? Trance. Oh and when i was a warm up in the last event of the radio (playing as you guessed prog trance,lol) many listeners came and asked me why the hell i left from there (and the answer was "I can't stand the ******,this radio is going downhills cause of him,Jesus"). True is that i'm not playing now on any radio,but i feel fine with myself. I was playing what i was loving and i didn't sell myself and change my style in order to be heard. That was me and not a CD mixer with the style that the manager wanted. Screw them and have fun

John2 does have a point. If you won't be able to be doing what you want to be doing... why do it?

Look around for Sander K playlists and look up what he's playing or has played over the years (well since around 2002 or 2003 when he switched to a funkier style). Also look at some Carl Cox playlists, because he does play some pretty funky techno and house...Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim is another person's tracklists to look for.
