having more problems with my club mix no. 1

well.
after a number of years i finished a dance-like track which is 3 and a half minutes.

i am unfortunately having problems with structuring my club mix version of it.

do djs like to fully move to the 2nd record by bar 33, where a pretty important motif starts or by bar 65 where the big banging theme starts.
is it difficult to change over by bar 16.

when does a structure become dj unfreindly.

also beat matching without pitch alteration can be achieved by products like virtual dj.

is this the way nowadays

Look, stop trying to make such a formualaic record. It's getting ridiculous.

That said, all 4/4 time music should do everything in multiples of 4. Four bars to a phrase. Shit should happen on the 8th, 16th or 32nd bars. If your track doesn't do this, you'll lose DJs.

Bingo.

There's no 'fixed' ammount of time your intros and outros should be. Just make it like you envision it and let the DJs deal with it. If they're creative, they'll find a way around a tricky intro.

Full on psy, for instance, tends to either have very short intros or even start right on a break. DJs just adapt to it by knowing their records well.

PS, if you post this in the producer forum, where it belongs, you might get some better replies.

thanks for the reply system j.

currently i have

bar 1-16 kick drum and hi hhats

bar 17-24 a new percussive section

bar 25-32 another percussion section (still no bass instrument )

bar 33 - 65 a melodic motif taken from the main melody with heaps of percussive stuff underneath and no bass line - plenty of tribal percussion though

bar 66 - the start of the full melody and then the piece continues.

just wondering if i started the bar 33 section at bar 41 therefore the main melody starts at bar 73.
would that be okay.

i guess i will now probrably buy virtual dj 3 so that i can test my intro against other tracks.

at the moment i reckon that certain textures make djs react musically
and i am trying to work out whats best for my track and the previous.

actually it would be intersting to know if proffesionals are using that software, the virtual dj

For fucks sake, just do what you think sounds best.

You think Shakespeare would have become that great when 'should this be put on page 17 or 18' was the only thing he was thinking about?

i think it will only work if you put a wind-like woooooooooooosh starting from bar 31 with delay of 0.2 bars upto bar 38. and then a breakbeat from bar 85 where you put the kicks at bars 85, 86, 86.5, 87.5 and the hats at bars 85.2, 85.4, 85.8. if you don't do this nobody will play your record.

OMG offbeat

I'd put the 3rd at 87 though.

you really need to keep threads like these to the production forum.
