I have ortofon nightclub E, this is what determines what your tonearm height should be. mine is at 0.5. For weight, I do not have the auxillary weight screwed on, and I have it set somewhere between 1.75 and 2.5, some records I know are poorly pressed(previous experiences with them) and I add more weight to prevent skipping. Anti skate is set identical to the counterweight.

U should typically have:

Weight = 2-2.5
Anti-skate = 3 (doesnt really matter)
Tone arm height = look at this from the side view, when the tone arm is on the a record playing, you should see that it is parallel to the vinyl, so that there are no angles at all.

Hi all,

Thanx! But I still find it strange that the weight is from 0 - 2,5 g on the scale. How should you get 4 g then?

Greetings,
Blighty

Actually, the scale goes from 0 up to 4...
when you do a full rotation, past 3.9, and it says zero again, its four.... one full rotation and then up to 1 is 5g... etc.

Hi,

What is the max then, because on a certain point, it "snaps back" know what I mean?

Greetings,
Blighty

p.s. I have it on 0, after a full rotation. Is this good? AS is on 1.5 and height is on "5"

That means its at 4g.... which is good enough to keep it from skipping. I have it on 3, and can do most things without it skipping..

remember, the heavier you have it, the faster your needle and records will wear out.

the max depends on how heavy your cartridge is... becuase a heavier cartridge will balance with the weight farther back, so you have more room to adjust... but i don't see a need to get it any higher than what you have now, unless you're a crazy turntablist scratch dj.

tone-arm height, i'm not too sure whats optimum, and I can't tell enough of a difference to adjust it anyways..

anti-skipping, should be the same as your weight balance, for regular listening. But since I do alot of back-cueing when I dj, i ahve it at 0, so it won't skip when i spin the record backwards.

Hi quddha,

I spin trance so I back que a lot too. So my AS is on 1,5.
Thanx for the help mate, I really appriciate it! One thing: 4 g will not damage my record badly, will it?

Greetings,
Blighty

yes 4g will eat thru your records. and you should have your AS on the same are you weight so it should also be 4g.

its centrifical force, as the records spins, the needle is forced to the outside (like in a salad spinner), if AS is too low, the needle will have a tendency to try and go out, and may skip. SOO..to prevent this you use the Anti Skate, which adds resistance to that 'move outwards' motion.
