I've been doing mixes on it just the same as I've been doing mixes on vinyl and CD.

The future of trance/house/4 to the floor mixing i think.

No.
It bores the shit out of me. And the prep work before hand is even more boring. Somewhere up there with watching paint evolve. Its that much fun.

ableton has its uses for me. when it comes to mixing, i like to stick with the hardware. as a whole, i think ableton is a great digital instrument.

Maybe to make software mix compilations and MAYBE partly used in a set with cd and vinyl decks but never a complete switch to only Ableton. Using soley Ableton in your live sets strips away the meaning of dj'ing to me.

I've been using it rewired to reason for arranging tracks and such, and did a few edits with it.
Played around with DJ'ing with it, yes it's has amazing possiblities. The prep work is definately BORING. I work with computers all day, to come home and warp and split up tracks is just not fun. Sasha has a whole team of people that do it for him.
Ableton wasn't even purpose built as a DJ tool, it just became used in that way. It'll be interesting to see what other tools come down the line.
I'm also waiting for a Sasha-Maven like controller to come out. All the ones commercially available feel like plastic garbage, with the exception of the Xone 3D (which is too expensive for my needs).

I don't know because I can warp a track in about the same time it takes to look through a crate and pick out a record and then rearrangement can be easily done on the fly.

I am sorry but I have to agree with Freak it's as intresting as watching flys fuck!
I like classic turntables and timecode systems along with real records.
I dont like cd decks and when vinyl will become extinct no club will have turntables so the only way to spin will be ableton live
But I don't think it's really me
I have seen people use it in a good way and I have seen people going over the line butchering other peoples hard work.
In my opinion a dj is a dj.There are limitations to that.
He is there to play recorded music and make the crowd have fun.
He should respect the hard studio work of the people who made the music and give the their 5 minutes of fame not turn good music into disjointed gimmics!
Picture yourself doing a 10 hour marathon mix using ableton live.
Could you?
Shit I would probably fall asleep half way through...

Everything you have just described has absolutley nothing to do with ableton and everything to do with the person using it.

I was at a party today and I had to tell my friend. Damn this is about as boring as watching paint try those records just go in circles over and over again.
