If you mix CDs, how do you shop?!

Since I've gotten my cdj-800 mk2 added to my setup I find it harder to find tunes on cds. I can't download from beatport or anything like that because I don't have a credit card, so I go to the store (HMV) electronica section.

But how do I find tunes there when all of them are mix compilations?! People here say that you shouldn't mix from compilations (or use songs from there) but all of the Cd's were mixes. I saw some CD's had the songs I was looking for (Carl Cox - Give Me Your Love) but they were not singles, only mixes.

How do you find single tracks? Maybe vinyl *is* the only way...

If you're old enough, setup a checking account. They usually give you a debit card with a credit card kinda built-in (like my Wachovia debit card has a Visa built-in to it). And then you can buy tracks off of beatport.

Other than that, find your local record shop and check and see if they have a cd section.

And if all else fails, illegal is always an option, just make sure you get at LEAST 192kbps tracks.

Unless you doing hip hop or Top 40, CD singles are very hard to come by, especially for EDM. So Beatport Audiojelly or DJDownload are your best bets. There's others, but those are the most popular.

If you're old enough, get a credit card. If you're not old enough, borrow your parents' and pay it back as you go along. (that's what I used to do)

HMV only has crappy pop overplayed stuff. You won't find more than just a couple good CDs there.

Do what i did and get netbanking and a paypal account.
That way you transfer the money from your bank account into paypal then buy tracks whenever you want. I dont know if you can do bank transfers with mp3 stores but even if you did it would take days to go through and cost $20 in fees for transfering internationaly.
So paypal is the way, only problem is Beatport is still in the process of setting up there paypal.

if you're reaaaaaalllly into it, and need this track on CD, you can always buy the vinyl and record it to digital.

of course, for this to be worth it, you need a nice soundcard so that the digital version doesn't sound like crap.
