Processor / motherboard / BIOS CPU Tempbeeping.

Processor / motherboard beeping.

Hey guys,

I have a very fast and compatable PC only about 7 months old as well.

when i burn DVD's - the motherboard/processor beeps on and off as if it is being overloaded.

also happens when i play Half Life 2.

This shouldnt happen as i have a P4 Dual Core 3.2 Ghz processor. and 2 GB ram

is there a setting or something to prevent the processor from being overloaded.

?? i dunno? any help would be much appreciated

I assume its something to do with the temperature but its not running that hard nor have i overclocked it.

how do you i fix this?

go into your BIOS. there should be a setting in there somewhere to do with a temperature alarm. disable it.

as a general rule of thumb, youll get weird crashes and issues due to heat well before youll ever do any damage, so i really dont see the need for the system warnings.

i dont have the answer, but i was always under the impression that a motherboard beeped when it had a device that wasnt compatible plugged into it..

if u have the motherboard manual, or even just the serial number and model of it, you might be able to track down what the beeps mean on th enet

think of it as a speeding alarm cars have. in the BIOS there should be an option to pick a degrees C setting for when the alarm goes off. you can set it higher or lower, but turning this alarm off wont mean youre suddenly flying blind.

im onto my 3-4 system and ive overclocked several of them, and i have never had an issue with heat.

like i said, youll get ample warning before you do any damage. playing HL2 wont hurt your system. i promise

its coz youre playing a game. intense!

the alarm doesnt do anything apart from make a noise. it doesnt change any settings, so at the moment youre still doing all you want, youve just got that annoying alarm going off.

it'll be fine, promise!

Open the case after your finished playing a game. Touch the cpu and depending on the type of burn you get decide on what cooling you need.
Get a diagnostic prog and find out what the temp is getting up to and compare it with what the manual says is safe and blablabla. Need be, you can buy a fan for less then $10.
