you warp your tracks /so they can be autobeatmatched, it's like beatmatching once...and having it saved forever/

then you put them to the mix play with effects etc...get creative with loops...anything you like...

then you play with FX, add some live improvisations...if you have a good midi-controller you can get totally crazy

so basically
you dont need to cue or beatmatch anymore because Ableton will do it automatic for you?

I'm clueless

when u open up a song in ableton, you save the 'beatmatching settings' by positioning the bars at the right spot. now once u do that, u do the same to all the songs u got. next time, with a press of a button, track B can be auto beatmatch with the song currently playing. so it gives u more time to perfect in eqing, effects, looping, mashing up, etc....

makes more sense? it doesnt make djing cheating, it gives dj more opportunity to be creative.

Ableton is a computer program. Certain pieces of hardware (MIDI controllers) will control it externally--but no, your turntables will not. You'll either be DJ'ing with your mouse and keyboard, or with sort of MIDI interface, like this:

I hadn't seen those before, but I'm starting to look around for controllers for Ableton (started using it a few months ago and this mouse & keyboard ordeal is REALLY getting old). I was thinking about a UC-33, but that'd still leave me with no crossfader, so I'd either have to add something else, or resort to bad measures. How are those Bitstreams? Recommended or no? It looks pretty nice, but I'm leary.

Just getting into Abelton Live and I love it. I wouldn't use it as a dj'ing substitute, but more as a measure for live remixing. It does what a culmination of $1000's worth of equipment used to do. That mixer for Abelton looks like it rocks!!! Can we get a manufacturer's link or something to get the info on in?

I was just looking at ableton being sold brand new for less than $150. Am I looking at the right thing? That just seems way too cheap.
