Barry that makes no sense to tell you the truth. What are you doing at the mid bottom frequencies? cutting? boosting? I'll tell you that wide bandwidth at least means to have a wide curve instead of a really pointy, small curve.

yea i no that part its the other part thats confusing me. it says the bass should have more mid bottom 150 to 200 hz if that helps. doesnt mention cutting or boosting.

the eq talk gets me.

oh okay well for bass sounds if that's what you're talking about, 150-200hz would mean that the bulk of the sound should be sitting in that area. Give some light cuts everywhere else and do a wide few dB boosts around 1k-3k while giving a nice 4dB boost or so from 150-200hz. I hope that helps if you need a picture, then I'll post one with waves or something.

i no what your talking about. the cubase eq isnt great imo so it would be interesting to see on an another graph so i can check where mine is going wrong.

Try out Voxengo those plugins are pretty damn nice.

I'm not even sure what we are going for here. EQ talk gets me too sometimes, although I'm getting better about it. I usually don't boost my basses, I try to start out with a solid bass sound that has enough bottom end so that I don't need to boost it. I just find boosting tricky, because you can overdo it. I don't know about the Cubase EQ, but Fruity Loops has a decent paraghaphic EQ that lets you set up curves, wide or narrow. I'll post a pic for you if needed, but I think Lindo is going to take care of that. He sounds more knowledgable than me on the subject anyway.

I'm not sure why you'd want to boost the 1k-3k area, unless some of the frequencies for that particular bass sound are in there. As far as making cuts in any of the other frequencies, that seems risky, if you don't know what you're doing. Maybe that technique is too advanced for me, probably so.

Boosting the top end gives it some clarity and some highs to work with so it sits in the mix well.

The Q isn't really as defining as the frequency, so it pays to get the frequency right first. You can then adjust the width, or smoothness of the cut or boost with the Q, and set how many dB's you want to cut or boost it. Or am I wrong in thinking this?

wow my graph is clearly different form that i had everything below 150 cut as i have my low end bass covering this but i think by doing so ive cut the bass area. going to try this later. thanks alot.
