I've been doing it without cueing. I only use the cue to beatmatch anyway and Ableton makes that pointless. But if you want to cue you need a nice multi channel sound card.

How has that been working out for you? Not cue'ing I mean. How do you do it? Whenver I try without cue'ing, the results are usually less than spectacular :P

I've only done one full length mix in Ableton, but what I did was figure out my tracklisting first. Then I imported all of the tracks and warped them and arranged them in the session view in the order I wanted them. When I wanted to start mixing in a new track I just triggered the clip for that corresponded with that track. I just used the volume faders for each channel and mixed rotary style without EQs. It came out better than some of my other more traditional mixes.

I'm sure cueing would be essential if you wanted to do something that wasn't pre arranged the way a studio mix usually is.

When alot djs mix with live and i mean doing it live, how do they mix it?
Just in session view and abit of preplanning?
Does anyone use a particular vst plugin for a simple 3 or 4 band eq?

ah, that would explain it then, I thought you meant live mixing without the session view

How would you do live mixing without the session view? I only use the arrangement view for production.

lmao, that's what I meant. I've been using Ableton for a little over 3 months now and I still get the two mixed up all the time.

You just need a multi-channel card to cue, or if you have 2 cards, you can asio4all (www.asio4all.com) and use both at the same time.
