Exclamation Removing the grounding cable from a 1200?

Hey I was curious if anyone knows of a good tutorial online to have step by step procedure guide on how to remove the grounding cable that every 1200's got... I'd love to do this mod cause not only would it be a cleaner look, but setting up the gear would be more efficient... any help would be great!

Yup, it's needed to cancel out the hum in the audio signal.

Newer tables can do this internally, but I don't think the 1200's do that... Not sure though.

There is a mod for it. Look on google. I've seen it before.

Yeah but is it worth risking ruining your tt's (and techs at that) just so they look slightly better?

It's easy, i've done it. You tie the ground cable, to the ground of the rca' cables. If you are confident in your soldering skills, its not a big deal at all.

thanks for the replies guys...

I actually seen those youtube videos, I wish he would explain instead of music playing in the background. I've replaced the RCA's before, just needed a basic understanding of wtf I'm soldering what to... which Allen Mueller answered, thanks!

it's doable, i've rented TTs for shows before and they've had the ground cable removed

they sounded just fine, just make sure you know what you're doing before you go about messing around inside your TTs first

You might want to quickly check that your RCA shields and the ground terminals on the back of your mixer go to the same place before you do this (as very rarely they don't). Just stick a multimeter (on its continuity setting) between them on the back of the mixer and if you get continuity then go for it
