Turbo Trance wear interview in Mushroom magazine

Fashion label: TURBO TRANCE WEAR

Marseille / France

When did you start ?
Actually, we started to make clothes at the same time than the music label, in 2000 with merchandising.

Please tell me about the history of your fashion label ?
We started in 2000, our music label, well known, Turbo Trance records. At the same time, we decided to make some merchandising with t shirts and sweaters, with our logos. Our label knew a great success and the merchandising as well. After some years, the merchandising continued to grow up more and more, even more than the music. It started to be huge and we decided to create a real clothes company. At the same time, we met Didier, the founder of the famous french clothes company, "Pygmees" and he proposed us to collaborate together as he wanted to create a new line in his clothes collection, dedicated to night life. It was the real beginning of Turbo Trance wear, one year and half ago. At this moment, Turbo Trance records decided to produce Pygmees compilation and integrate Didier aka El didion as one of the main Turbo Trance djs.

Whats the style of your label ?
The style of our label is not about Psy Trance wear. Pygmees influences a lot our style as Didier (Pygmees owner /Aka El Didion) is drawing in collaboration with L'Elf (Turbo Trance owner) all collections. Didier is a real fashion designer influenced by 70's french fashion.

Our goal is to mix a bit of each styles together, taking the best from each part. So, you can find a bit of original Psy Trance wear style, Surf, skate and street wear style, and a good dose of actual fashion style.

Please tell more about your concept ?

We are developping Turbo Trance wear in a really special way. We are not too much in the Psy Trance wear business. You can find our clothes in surf and skate shops, fashion shops close to big marks like Levi's, also, in Gothic shops, depending the models but of course, in some Trance shops!

Our concept is to reach people who have nothing to deal with Psy Trance in order to bring them inside our Turbo Trance world and make them discover what is behind our clothes collections, a whole universe.

With which materials do you produce your clothes ?

We use all kinds of material. Most of it is coton as this is the best material to produce and what people like the most. But we use microfiber, Leatherette, and many more... We actually look for new material and new kind of prints in order to have something different from other clothes marks.

What inspires you ?

Well, we draw our collections, most of the time, in Bali, where are our factories. Bali is a beautiful island and a Surf paradise. So Surf lifestyle inspires us. Also, we use to go in Thailand to look for new fashion creators there and these fresh creators inspire us as well.

I‘m (L'Elf) playing a lot around the world and seeing people on the dancefloor, travelling trough many countries where the fashion is very different from a country to the other is inspiring me a lot.

Then, we read lot of fashion magazines, we buy a lot of clothes that we like.

Where people or shops can buy your clothes ?

We have many retailers around the world. As I said before, we are reselling in many different style of shops, Surf, skate and street wear shops, of course, Trance shops, but also fashion shops where our clothes can be close to huge marks, gothic shops.

Actually we have around 40 shops in France and many in other countries like USA, Austria, Croatia, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Italy.

You can find the list of our retailers on our website: www.turbotrancewear.com and you can also order directly from there! If you are retailers, you can contact us on our website and get catalogues and price lists.

Do you have a stall at festivals ? If yes where ?
We use to work with some stalls on festivals but we don?t do ourselves any stall anymore. We are actually looking for good partners to collaborate with us on the next festivals as our clothes are selling very good on festivals.

Please tell me more about your fashion label which was not asked here in this questionnaire.
During next spring we?ll move our name from TURBO TRANCE WEAR to TURBO WEAR. Check our website www.turbotrancewear.com, soon, our winter collection will be added.

For any request, catalogue, price list, contact [email protected]
