In your sequencer/host you should be able to route audio from your external hardware through an effects channel/bus/whatever.

i`m almost a complete newbie at this, do i need special inputs on a soundcard ?
i`ve ordered my nord lead and it comes in handy if i know i need a
new soundcard too.
now i only have onboard sound.
and how about the output, can the signal of the nordlead that is routed through the virtual effect be send out through the same
output on the soundcard as all other virtual instruments ?
or does it goes seperated, then i`ll need a mixer too.
if you just have onboard sound, you're gonna need a new soundcard...

ok i`ll order an audiophile 192 this week i think , also comes in handy when i use 24 bit samples.
not so much inputs/outputs but i don`t need that for now, because i don`t have anything else.

your thought was good, it can be done i just found out.
(with keyboard split and selecting the slots)
so i`ll look for a soundcard with two or more inputs.
