Quick internet law question

WinRAR files allow you to password protect them, using a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and symbols. Even if you were the most determined hacker/cracker on earth, it would take you decades to crack a 20 digit alphanumeric password.

Has the government ever held someone responsible for having password protected/encrypted files that gave no hint as to what was inside them?

Suppose you started a file delivery service like Yousendit/Rapidshare/Sendspace, and someone uploaded a .rar file named "3293fh07823hldfhJioubnoqwryim" with an uncrackable password... are you responsible for whatever may be in the file if the contents are revealed?

Common sense tells me that no matter what, you can't be blamed because you had no way of knowing. But what does the law say?

Seriously, all jokes aside... PM me to the program that can crack a password that strong. (Not being sarcastic here AT ALL, if you have a program that can do this, I would def. appreciate it. Thanks)

But anyways, I think that this would be a good business model. By making people pay for the bandwidth of their hosted files. Think about it. It would blow P2P out the water forever.

But it would be *FUCKING HARD* to do.

All we'd need is the legal greenlight.

why would you need such a program to begin with?

I think you're not allowed to even ask for such things in this forum, assuming the forum does NOT support illegal activities.

The idea I'm asking about is something I want to create.

And how do you know what I wanted to use the password cracker for? Don't you know that it's very easy to password protect those .rar files and lose the password? It's only for recovery, relax.

don't have, it's just general familiarity with a hacker's mind that lead me to my estimate.

1. why would people prefer to pay for a service they can currently get for free?
2. p2p was already blown out of the water by torrents.. kinda
