I posted it in here because, according to the descriptions of the forums, the production promotion forum is for promoting tracks. That is what i use it for. The production studio forum is for building tracks with other people. That is what i use it for. The DJ Booth forum is the only one that says anything about questions. It says to post questions about software etc., and monitors are used in djing as well as production, so i figured this would be a better place to ask.
As for everyone else, thanks a lot for your advice. I want to get the best i can afford, because once i get some, i don't want to have to buy more for quite a while. I have been producing for several years, but have never had good monitors so i had to make do with what i had. I want good ones to help me bring my tracks to that next level. Thanks a lot, i'll look into your suggestions.

Try them out
See if there is a Guitar Center or someplace simular that you could try before you buy. Studio monitors can be a very personal thing. I spent about 2 hours at Guitar Center testing out different pairs. Bring some tracks that you know well, and some recordings from other types of music. After all the testing I went with a pair of Dynaudios. Than I ended up returning them, not becasue I didn't like them but because I wanted CDJ's instead and I decided I wanted to do my system diferently ( 3 way active with subs, full, and a tweeter array )
