This doesnt really relate to this forum although if im to find what im looking for the people will be here.

i was just wondering if anybody does or did a music technology course?

ive wanted to do one for a while although they have none in ireland so ive had to do a course i dont really want to do. the course is starting to really annoy me so im thinking of doing what i always wanted. in this case ill have to move overseas but i dont really mind so if anybody has done or is doing one id like to know and also where they are studying it?

Check out my school.... www.cras.org

I study Audio Engineering from both Analog and Digital platforms... We're trained on every aspect of analog recording techniques, including full hands on of a Neotek, a Neve, and an SSL console based recording studio. We learn all three consoles. We track to analog tape in our analog sessions on both Otaris and Studers.

As for digital, we have a fully functional Protools 5.1 surround sound studio where we learn 5.1. We also can receive certifications in both Logic and Reason.

We're also a Digidesign certified training center, so we offer the 101 and the 210 certs. for Protools.

Plus, at the website you can check out the instructor base... It's a great program that gives you the foundation in all possible recording formats. They're even launching a video game curriculum, so once you graduate, you'll be able to work in a studio, post production, video game sound design... pretty much any thing you'd want to do in audio recording.

PM me if you have any questions.. For the money, the Conservatory's program is the best deal, compared to Full Sail and SAE... Not that those programs are bad, but I did extensive research into all three programs and for what you pay and you get at CRAS, you're getting a very very good deal.

that really isn't true at all because 1)the equipment we use is the equipment used in professional grade studios all around the world and most people don't have that in their home 2)the instructors are people who've made a living as professional engineers in everything from film studios to recording studios. So, they're able to hand instruct you in ways that breed success... and supervise hands on, rather than reading endless posts on the internet that may or may not be true...

There is value in attending a program, but only if you're looking to make it a profession, rather than a hobby. And yes, I know, it's entirely possible to make it as a professional without attending any school, but I would imagine that if he's asking about a program, he probably feels he needs it...
