(This post will probably be moved to the cool/humour section...)
I checked it out.
Interesting for sure. I remember my dad and I talking about music (this is waaaay back) and how it can put you into a state of mantra.
That was the first thing I thought of when I started reading that article.
| quote: | man·tra Pronunciation Key (mntr, mn-)
n.
Hinduism. A sacred verbal formula repeated in prayer, meditation, or incantation, such as an invocation of a god, a magic spell, or a syllable or portion of scripture containing mystical potentialities.

An altered state of reality and to use a quote from that article | quote: | | Music fills the air and deep rhythms lock into an irresistable groove. Swept up in the beat, the dancers enter into profound altered states of consciousness, surrendering to the ecstasy of trance. Powerful energies move through their bodies as gateways to the spirit world open and they feel the awesome presence of the sacred. |
I've always believed in the power of music to uplift me or charge me up. I look at it as a consoler when I'm depressed, a friend when I'm lonely, a teacher when I'm studying, an opener of mental doors and obstacles...
I agree with the comparison of Shamanism to Trance but the article tries to hard to push me in that direction.
Other than that, it's a good article.

The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass...and then you see it...
...white shores...and beyond...the far green country under a swift sunrise."
