awkward beginnings!!!

why do some producers like to annoy djs by putting a beat on the offbeat just before the track starts on the proper first beat?

this means you have to drop it on the seventh count and not the eighth.

it happens on system f - cry and i think its the same as the fear and loathing mix of vegas.

its really frustrating mixing it.

cant say ive ever had an issue with it, i never begin my transition on the first beat of a track... I can usually pick up on when phrases begin pretty easily throughout a track aswell.

ifit was cdjs you could just set the cue to the first beat but with vinyl it gets frustrating when you dont no which beat it is as their so close.

It really isn't hard to hear which beat is the first. Just pay a bit more attention.

another pointless post from you although i shouldnt expect anything less.

anyway its near impossible as the two beats are so close together the only option is to go on the seventh count.

What is so pointless about it? You can easily detect the correct beat, just listen to the damn thing. It really isn't all that hard.

And if you hit the wrong beat all you need to do is give it a little nudge and it's back on track again. I really don't see the reason for your hostility here.

theres no hostility on my part. the reason for the thread is what is the point in producers doing this, it really is a stupid thing to do as a producer.

Well I feel a track should work for both home listeners and DJ's, that's why I like it when intros have something else than the same old dull beat intro. Sometimes it means it's a bit trickier to mix but I haven't come across a track I can't mix yet.

Music has had pickup notes for a long time now. It isn't pointless for producers to use pickup notes. Learn some music theory.

meh.. feck the theory IMO.

When mixing tunes together, it is easier to know the first beat you run into is the beat at the beginning of the phrase.

Seeing as we're on a trance forum (music..) and in the DJ Booth, (mixing), i can see exactly where dj_kane is coming from.

However i know that i let a song play for a little bit before i'll rely solely on drop queueing it. (if that makes sense).

Anyway, i see both points. But don't like how the replies to the initial question were made. It's a simple comment. And i know loads of people would agree with it.
