Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to adjust the input level in this program (Audacity). All my mixes that I record with this program turn out way too low as far as volume go's.

I think I have the same issue. I've never tried 'fixing' it though. There is an option to increase the volume. Go to Effect:Amplify. I just tried it and it definitely works!!!

Thanks for a fast response. I tried to go into the effects, and it wont let me select anything. Do you know if I am doing something wrong?

Do a 'CTRL+A' to first select all. Then, try it. Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

For some reason, whenever I go into the effects options and try to select something, it won't even let me click on anything.

You have to select either a part or all of the audio first. To select all, do a CTRL+A or an EDIT:SELECT:ALL.

Yeah select the bit you want to change and go to effects >> amplify and increase it a bit - not too much as it disorts - works ok though..

You will lose sound quality if you amplify the mix instead of adjusting the input volume level. Make sure in the options you have your sound card as your input(and not the Microsoft Mapper thing, that reduces the quality as well). Then turn your mixer output volume up until the point where you are getting the meter all the way up but not clipping(I am assuming you are recording from a mixer). I don't know what kind of soundcard you have, but you also may have software for it to set input levels.

Yeah, I got nowhere with trying to make adjustments with the effects. Thanks for your guys help though. I am running mac OS X on a g4 powerbook. My soundcard is a M-Audio firewire audiophile interface and I am connected to a DNS 900 mixer on the record out. I will surley give that a try. Sounds like it may do the trick.

Rock On,

Mike
