Ok, first off, I must say that i've owned and used the 700s for almost 4 years now and have never had a problem with them. not even the slightest hairline fracture. My first set of 7506s i had for about 6 months before they got crushed by airport baggage handlers. ok fine, i can understand that. now i take excellent care of my equipment, especially my cans, but yesterday, i'm sitting at my desk rocking out to a desyn set and i notice that everytime i move my head to the left "clunk". the f-in driver somehow detached from the housing and is just banging around in there loose. I've only had them for like 2 months which is just long enough to be fucked by GC's return policy. im pissed!

i hope my cans never break because i paid 160 for them and i probably got ripped off.

7506's are modular, meaning they are easily repaired

take them to an authorized sony repair place and they will just take em apart, order the broken part and stick em back together good as new

if you're advanced enough to do the work yourself, look at the schematic included in the box to order the part yourself

this is one of the reasons i bought these cans

i've been in radio stations that have been using them for 20 years, just fix the broken piece when it breaks

holy crap, i never even noticed the schematic. looks like i found my project for the evening.

mine need a replacement cord because the wire for the left channel inside frayed.. i temporarily fixed them by cutting the cord open and soldering the wire back together. but the cord is like $50 from sony. at that point i'm thinking its worth buying another pair entirely. or using a different replacement cord, which would also be good because I could use a straight cord instead of the annoying coiled, but then the nice screw-on 1/4" adapter might not fit. anyone know if there's a straight replacement cord of reasonable quality out there that the adapter fits?

ok, so in about 15 minutes i went from hating these headphones and cursing the day i bought them, to telling myself its the best $100 ive spent on equip.

turns out all that happened was that the driver stopper had wiggled its way out of the housing. all that was needed was a small flat and phillips head screwdrivers and a tiny bit of patience (to get the ear pad back on). if it happens again, i wont even need to take them apart, just press around the driver stopper to pop it back into place.

These headphones KICK ASS!!!
