another noob thread

yup that's right this is another "what should i buy starter setup" thread

the difference is i already used the search function, checked on the internet for reviews and technical info and went to a few stores to check the products in real life

so i narrowed down my options to these few components:

- 2 pioneer cdj-200 or
-2 pioneer cdj-800
paired with
-a pioneer djm-400 mixer or
-a Vestax vmc-004
and some headphones (i didn't really check into that for now because i alreaydy have some)

basicly i can do four different setups with these but the ones i was more interested in are

the cdj-200 with the djm-400
or the cdj-800 with the vestax
they come to about the same price

now for my needs, i am really a beginer starting from scratch, never even touched a mixer, i have hundreds of cds and a pretty big library of songs in my computer so vynils are not an option for me. i plan on mixing mostly trance, techno and house so i know i wont really use the scratching otpion on the cdj-800mk2
For now i want to buy this for me, to have fun and because i love music, but eventually if i get more into it i would like to mix at some parties or maybe a bar or a club so i want to learn on a decent setup

For the mixer, i only need 2 channels but i would like to add a computer eventually (i know the djm-400 is a two channel but it has 4 inputs)

so finally i would like to have the opinion of more experienced people

with these components, do you think they are a good starter setup, is the cdj-800mk2 overkill for my needs, etc
am i better with two decent cdjs and a better mixer or better cdjs and a decent mixer

or perhaps i should go with the the djm400 and the cdj-800mk2 but thats a bit more expensive....

anyways thank you for your advices

That's what I did a few months ago and I haven't regretted spending a little more on the setup then I had planned. Nothing beats the feel of an 800 or 1000 "industry standard" platter. As for the DJM 400, just do a search and you'll see people are loving it, including myself.

I am not sure if this is what you want, BUT for less than the price of 2x cdj800 and a mixer you could get a djm-800 and if you have ableton or another midi-controlled program use your files on your computer. If it were me, I would get the cdj-800s. THey are more like the cd-players in the clubs you'd be playing at (if you want to go down that ruote.) If this is only a hobby and you don't want the vinyl feel of the cdj800s..I hear the cdj-200s are the way to go.

nothing wrong with the 200's but go with the 800's and u wont be dissapointed... im just as happy with my 800 as i am with my 1000

in fact everytime i start a set.. i make shure to stick the first cd in the 1000 becasue i love the feeling of the 800's platter.

DJM 400!!!!!

You will regret getting that vestax later down the road. They arent built nearly as tough as those pioneer mixers. My vestax is going to hell very quickly now.
