there was almost a code of respect back when I joined, where many people would take time to get to know people, almost as a courtesy, and of course we had a bunch of hosers back then too, but over time those who got on, esp with an active IRC channel for ta would be able to lynch threads with abuse so quickly, just 1 pasted link & upto 20 people would be onto whoever posted something silly. I don't think there's ever been total peace, bar maybe the early early days
