Review: Eco and Jayoza with Mark Ian at Machine
I guess I'm back to writing reviews (sorry guys for missing last week's --- I had to do some important shit) so here goes.
Living in Manhattan, I'm unused to traveling far to get to my parties, but this trip out to Queens was certainly worth it. Machine is, simply put, an absolutely awesome venue that brings images of a mini-roxy to mind. With a main floor almost the size of the main room at Crobar, this club certainly possesses the potential neccessary for becoming an interesting alternative to the 'standard' club parties in the superclubs of the meatpacking district.
But onto the music! Mark Ian did a fantastic job of opening and demonstrated to all that he was a true power behind the turntables. Unfortunately he was only spinning till around 1, but my dissapointment was soon erased by DJ Eco, who dropped an extremely intense set that was rather eclectic in nature. Starting off with some driving house, he soon dropped 'Say What You Want' and then prompltly went through some tech before finally stopping at some glorious trance. Jayoza finished up with some killer tech and later hard trance that was being cranked out at a 135bps+ rate.
Overall though, i was a good party. The issue of there being a very small turnout was not really an issue, as those that came seemed pretty damned chill. A lot of people that were into the music and that liked the concept of a superclub-type party in Queens showed up, making it a great deal of fun.
That's all for today... need to sleep, but maybe I'll elaborate further tommorow.
