A GIRL at the centre of a possible Muslim "honour killing" made an emotional return to the scene of the gruesome crime yesterday as Islamic leaders denied their faith preached ritual murder. Kaihana Hussain's mother Yasmine was fatally stabbed and her father Muhammad critically injured in a violent domestic dispute at Southport, on the Gold Coast, on Monday night. Ms Hussain, 17, returned to the family's rented unit to re-enact the incident for detectives and to collect belongings. Police are investigating suggestions the violence erupted after Ms Hussain told her doctor father, a devout Muslim, she wanted to convert to Christianity. Mrs Hussain is believed to have been stabbed to death as she stepped in to protect her daughter. Surfers Paradise CIB Acting Det-Insp Marc Hogan yesterday refused to be drawn on whether the incident might have been religiously motivated. Dr Hussain remained in intensive care last night. Gold Coast Islamic leader Imam Imraan denied his religion preached death as retribution for renouncing Islam. "There is no such thing as honour killings -- it is totally un-Islamic," he said. "If a (Muslim) person wishes to change their religion . . . there is no problem at all."
