Every now and then something reminds you its all worth it...

I got to play at a really nice house up in the hills of Pasadena last night. It was a nice small little party with about 30 friends. I wish I had taken my camera and got some pictures, because I was in a room on a corner of the house with large windows giving an expansive view of the city and mountains. We had a nice little booth set up in the corner, and next to it french doors open to the outside patio. It was such a nice atmosphere to lay down some smooth music. I bought 58 new tracks just before leaving so I got to try out a bunch of new stuff on the kids. They were eating it up and everyone was having a great time. I played from 10pm to about 2:30am, had alot of fun. I've been playing at some pretty "eh" parties lately and this was a refreshingly good time...

damn, i need a night like that.

played a bunch of crap nights lately. they just passed a law here, all clubs close at 2am. people refuse to get there early, so i end up with an empty club most of the night, to have it jam pakced at 1:40AM, and they all get pissed at me when i shut down 20 minutes later.

i need to leave this damn country.

How did this good time of a party differ from your previous "eh" parties. Did you bring different music this time? Was it your environment? Better crowd? Please elaborate.

Man, I've been missing these. It's been ages since I got to play a 4+ hour set, and when you get to do that at a house party where everyone's in the mood for a good time and things are just a bit looser than they are in a club setting, it can make for one hell of a night.

Glad to see you had a good time bro!

Everyone was down for ahwtever I played. They followed the set well, they were dancing and getting down all around the house. I played 0 hip hop...and no one even asked for any! The kids all dug it, they were all giving me props.

Track of the night was def Spooky - No Return (Son Of A Beach Mix) that I played towards the very end...

Sounds like an awesome night. Makes me want to increase the amount of demos I've been handing out, as well as amount of people receiving them.

You've needed to do that for a long time.
