International Rules - Ireland vs Austrailia

Any Aussies watch this? Any Aussies even post in SD?

How big is this event in Austrailia? Would many people know about it?

For those who dont have a clue what i am talking about. This is a sport made up of the rules of GAA(gaelic football) and aussie rules. Irelands team is made up of players from our county teams and Aussie team is made up of players from there club teams.

Tomorrows match is gonna have an attendence of 71,521. So it should be a great atmosphere. The first match was played last week in Galway. Wasnt a great game but an excellent come back from Ireland. Ended up getting a goal and an over in the last few minutes to win 48-40.

Looking forward to tomrrow.

Always ends up with fights heres a clip of last years scraps.

we always end up getting a bit of kicking, but do well enough on the score board.

People know about it, but in general we just don't care.

As much as we love our football we just don't care that much about some hybrid game which is much more Gaylick (geddit?) than AFL.

although I will say this,
Fevola

got another hammering, didnt watch the match. Looked shit again.

The only Gaelic thing about it is the ball, pretty much every other rule is taken from AFL.

Oh and the fact you have to kick it into a net.

and the size of the ground. And reduced tackling (yes you don't have tackling, but the tackling you're allowed in IR is much less than allowed in AFL which would be harder to get used to than vice versa). And the fact you can score by not kicking the ball, here if you punch the ball through its a behind not a goal. And less players, and bigger interchange bench. And goalkeeper.

The different ball is a bigger change than anything the Irish need to adapt to.

Its more Gaelic than AFL by far.

The only trouble with the ball is kicking, which isnt too difficult. AFL players still have a massive advantage in tackling though, so i dont see how that can hinder your players.

I think its pretty even with rules, it just the size of the Aussie players and physicality that limits us.

You irish got a hammering last time, think you need to get some kick-boxing lessons done and other fighting training to help you out a little.

We'll always be at a size disadvantage.
