Smiley DJ Need your help - Track Selection & Presentation

I have been invited by a non-profit organisation to DJ at a huge gathering comprising of mostly and (almost entirely) of families. It is an open-air day-event with quite a transient crowd (come and go type) with a total of more 1000 people to be attending it and atleast 300 or so people to be present at any given point of time.

I am really at wits end to decide what to play. I have been playing Trance and House in and out but some of friends warn me that it might not work in front of a diverse and totally family-oriented crowd like this. In fact, i myself feel that i'll probably have to squeeze in lot of 80s dance type stuff.

I'll like your help on the following points:
1. Track Selection (If you can list some track that can catch immediate attention at such events, as also tracks that can help me pull them out of slumber if they doze off).
2. Presentation: Any tips/recommendations on opening tracks, closing sequence, something to throw in between etc.
3. General track recommendations for such type of gatherings/events
4. Anything that you feel might be relevant.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks.

This has got nothing to do with practice or knowing (or not knowing) one's tracks.

But never mind.

I find that families and older people that are not into the edm music like easy sounding beats that they can kinda move to. So nothing electro, not real big breakdowns and wild synths. just see how they react to certain styles and determine if you should play more of that style.
