Intergroove UK Shutdown! - End of vinyl coming?

taken from http://www.globalunderground.co.uk/...pic.php?t=63086

quote:
It would appear that as of yesterday afternoon, the distributor Intergroove's UK operation has closed it's doors. What impact this will have on the market remains to be seen, but it does carry a huge number of popular labels.

For a list of labels that will possibly be affected, you can go to http://www.intergroove.co.uk/ and click on labels.

I see this as another HUGE impact on the already dying medium vinyl
This news just shows that vinyl has had its last days... as one of the major UK distributors of vinyl (Amato being the other) this news will affect almost all the labels on Intergroove's label-list. Lots of those labels will go belly up by this news also if they depend on vinylsales alot.
I can see only a handful making the switch to Amato

Thoughts?

You dont just "go" with a new distributor
There's only 1 alternative and also they will have to accept the label

and alot of those labels are really well known btw

if they are a good label then there shouldnt be a reason for not accepting them all the worse ones will strugle more. Also this wont effect that many different geners of music that much those labels are only a small proportion of the labels that actually exist

You really shouldn't open your mouth when you clearly haven't a clue what you're talking about.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out...

well i would question that how many people on here actually buy vinyl? i dont think it will effect that many i bet most people either download or buy the cd. I am probably one of the minority that still buys vinyl only.
