CKLN Presents Cut Chemist & Lyrics Born Cut Chemist, is a former member of the popular underground hip-hop group, Jurassic 5, and was also a member of the funky Latin band Ozomatli. Aside from his work with Jurassic 5, Cut Chemist has explored remixing with premier DJs such as DJ Shadow. This innovative turntablist made his album debut with the release of Live at Future Primitive Sound Session Version 1.1 in 1998. Also featured on the album are MCs Mr. Lif, Edan and People Under The Stairs’ Thes One. Lyrics Born began his hip-hop career as a DJ in college. It was not too long before he moved on to become a founding member of the Quannum Projects along with Lateef the Truthspeaker, Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel of Blackalicious and DJ Shadow. Lyrics Born released his debut solo album in October 2003, Later that Day. This album broke the Billboard Charts while peaking at number 40 on the Top Independent Album charts. In 2005 Lyrics Born released his second album Same !@#$ Different Day. This album contained multiple remixes from his debut album Later That Day, along with many original recordings. Following the release of his second album, Lyrics Born’s single Callin’ Out was used in many forms such as a Diet Coke Commercial in 2004, and was featured in the video game MLB 2006.
