Having Problems With The Master Volume Knob NEED HELP!

I own a DJM 800, have had it for a few months but last month i took it with me to a trip overseas.I Bought a road ready flight case for it and thought it was going to be safe during the trip. As soon as i arrived i noticed the master Knob volume was loose and instead of moving smootly like it did before, it was very loose. I didnt think much of it but instantly noticed i needed to bring it up higher than i used to to get to the levels i used to before.
Since then, this has been something that has bothered me but it hasnt stopped me from playing with it, but i noticed that as time goes by its getting worse.
I'm new to all this and don;t really know if this can be a major problem or something that can be easily repaired, and i know from experience that taking anything back to an authorized pioneer shop can be very expensive (up to $80 just to diagnose whats the problem) and want to have an idea of the problem so they don't rob me blind.

To give you guys an idea, today i had to set it at its maximum just to get the lEDs to the first orange bar and if i move it too much the sound cuts off.

If anybody has had the same problem or knows what might be wrong with my mixer i would appreciate you letteing me know.

Solder connection is probably broken, of the internals of the knob are faulty.
If you have only had it a couple of months it should be covered by warranty, therefore no cost to repair. If they try to charge you, complain to pioneer.

not only is the knob loose on the outside, but it seems to have loosened something up within the box, and as you turn the knob back and forth, it is gradually shifting stuff inside. You would have to open it up... but then goes your warranty I imagine.

edit: yea, what the guy above said

Dunno if it'll be the solder cos you won't use it for holding something in. If your meaning why it's loose? I'd recon it'll be some holding screw has untightened. Like a thing that screws onto the potentiometer (for holding it in place I mean)that is controlled by the knob.

Possibly means it's shifted round by being loose too which could be the reason you've got to turn it more.

Very much doubt it'll be solder though(but the movement might have pulled at one of the joints too though, unlikely though, cos it'd be crackly).

hey there, i also own a DJM-800 but don't know much about fixing it. the guy who posted right before me is probably right though, if you take off the master volume knob and remove the faceplate you might be able to screw the black thing that sticks out tighter.

Re: Having Problems With The Master Volume Knob NEED HELP!

Funnily enough, the one time I've used a DJM800 (a demo one on show at Plasa), it had exactly the same problem - the master level knob was really loose and only seem to do anything if you pushed it in as you turned it... I think I mentioned it when I wrote my little review of it.

It could be a design flaw, in which case by now Pioneer will know exactly what to do to fix it if you send it in.
