replaced by a former CIA director and long-time CIA spook & friend of the Bush family.

Hmm....

I honestly expected some other asshole like Feith to take Rummy's spot.

Haha it's about time this happened. He probably knew with the Democrats winning the House and possibly the Senate, that he would be in some trouble. I don't know much about the new guy, but i'm hoping he will be A LOT better than Rumsfeld was. Maybe he can clean the mess up in Iraq some. I personally would have wanted someone like Wesley Clark to be in that position, but he's a Democrat, and I doubt Bush would ever put someone like him in a position. But in 2008, who knows...

Only in this case it's Rummy.

Anyone read State of Denial. All of the retired generals in there explained how it was nearly impossible to work with that control-freak egomaniac.

Yeah, I'll get more excited about this resignation once I learn more about the nominee to replace him. I'm not optimistic, though.

I was listening to NPR when Bush had his big press conference this afternoon. Aparently he had hid the announcement of Rumsfelds resignation from a previous press conference.

They had lined this guy up a while ago, the white house was just waiting till AFTER the election to officialy announce his resignation; in hopes of not swaying voters already dis-illusioned by the iraq "war."

I'd like to take the time to repost this ...

I think if he actually fired Rummy before the election and put someone new in place that might have swayed a few disillusioned voters to stick with the GOP. I would say it was a bad political move on Bush's part to keep Rummy until after the election.

That's a darned interesting way to look at it.

For the white house to come out and say:

"We're commited to winning this war so we're pinching off the weak links."

And then hire someone else. Interesting.
