Help me decide b/t A&H xone 32 or 02

I am getting a mixer for Christmas and have narrowed the choices between the xone32 or the xone02 battle mixer. I mainly spin trance and like to mix rather than scratch, but I don't want to spend money on a mixer and not be able to scratch in the future.

I've heard the quality on Allen and Heath mixers is very good, but I've never used one nor has anyone I know. The 02 is cheaper and allows up to 2 tt and 2cds (currently I only use vinyl tt), but I am unsure about the slide eq versus knob eq. I've never used a mixer with slide eq, and it just seems weird. But if it is easy to use and people like it I wouldn't be opposed to spending less money for the 02.

What do you think?

You can't really scratch on that 32 but you can definitely scratch on the 02. The 02 also is great for mixing it just has a battle layout. (Faders spaced far apart, good crossfader, etc...) I prefer to use a battle mixer if I'm only using 2 channels.

my opinion is go with a vestax...they make sick battle mixers and imo amazing sound quality for the price (specifically the vmc004XL). with the 004 you can still scratch but its more of a house mixer. i guess it goes with your style really but if your more of an EDM person i wouldnt go with a battle mixer, a&h or not.

I think I'm probably going to get the xone32. I just don't think I can handle the slide eq. I looked at the vestax, but for some reason I get the impression that the A and H is higher quality and could be more fun with the filters.

Has anyone used this mixer? Any thoughts?

Also, I was looking at the back of the mixer and the output seems to be non-RCA. My reciever only has RCA inputs. What cables do I need to hook them together?

Thanks everyone!

theres also the ECLER NUO3 in that price range. A LOT better layout than the XONE:32 and equal sound/build quality

I have this mixer, and while I dont scratch with it, friends have and they liked it. The crossfader has an onn/off and curve adjust. The faders are very smooth, it baisically feels like a mini xone 62, with only 3 band eq. You might note that the channel levels are on the back of the mixer just above the RCA inputs, and although it seems weird at first you get used to it rather quickly...

...and finally the sound is superb Very warm and classic A&H.

The ECLER doesn't have a cue/main option to preview the mix in the headphones prior to introducing the new track. This feature is a must for me with my current setup. I don't need a split cue, but I do need some sort of preview.

I guess there is a way to cue the main and the cued track together, but in my experience with other mixers the main track volume is significantly louder in the phones and makes incoming track volume adjustments significantly more difficult.

Clovis, do you like the filter section? Also, how much kill is there with counterclockwise positioning? I don't really scratch, I just mix and record so I want great eq and good sound quality.

The kills are not huge, only -26db, but the same you'd find on pioneers and most other mixers. The filters are fantastic, and you can effectively use the filter to kill bass completely by using a high pass or high pass/band pass combo and moving the filter slider to the desired position. With the filter resonance knob you can use the filter either as more of an effect with added white noise, or more as an eq help with no distortion...
