Wondering how many of you guys use a lite ratio stereo compressor on the mix 2-bus to glue it all together and add some colour perhabs.
just throwing it out there.

ya. as in your main stereo mix. Now I'm talking about proper stereo comp on the 2-bus with barely any ratio and a redcution no more then -2db, so it doesn't affect the dynamics.

is that the trick called "invisible compression"???
guess not...I have no clue what is this about sorry
I started mixing with the SSL stereo buss compressor with an average of 2-3db of constant gain reduction. It's nothing huge, but I've been pretty happy with the results so far.

I dont use any compression until the mix is complete.
Personally I don't interfear with the master channel at all during arranging and mixing, but leaves that to the mastering process afterwards.
I used to have a limiter on the master channel long ago, but that generated strange results because it hid peaks over zero! That's a little tip to those of you who uses compressor/limiter on the master channel; turn it if now and then to make sure the signal isn't over zero at anytime, before it's compressed.
