Yes, I have a pair that I got for $300 almost brand new off eBay. Previously, I had the KRK RP6s and the Tapcos blow those out of the water! They are absolutely fantastic monitors, the bass is deep and rich (goes all the way down to 40hz) and everything just sounds soooo much better on them. Mackie made these after making the HR series, which are totally world class studio monitors. The S8s are basically the budget version of the HR824. If you have a chance to pick these up do not pass it up, they are fantastic monitors!!!

Yeah there nice monitors... I almost brought a pair myself but I brought a pair of whise 6080's instead.

They sound great and you don't need a sub.

Can you tell my why you feel the Tapco's are better then krk's. I know they're alot louder. Let me start by telling you what im looking for in a monitor. Crisp clean highs, accurate mids especially during vocals, and hard hitting PUNCHY not DRONNY lows. Have you campared the two side by side?

I can only speak on behalf of the KRK RP8s and they are lovely. Really lovely. I did a LOT of research on what monitors to buy for the money.

No one can deny the KRK RP8 or the Event TR8s seem to be the people's choice in this range. If you search the net you'll see that almost all recommendations in that price range come down to these two monitors.

I chose the KRKs after hearing them in a shop. You'd be wise to get yourself to a place that can demo your shortlist of choices - at the end of the day it's the only way you'll make an informed decision. Anything you hear on TA or anywhere else on the net is merely someone elses opinion and is no substitute for your own personal preference.

A lot of the time people seem to loose sight of what a monitor should do. The single most important thing they should to is give a flat, clear and accurate response. This will enable you, the mixer, to blend two tracks together accurately and easily. This quality is key, with all other attributes being secondary, power for example.

If you aren't using these for production then it doesn't really matter get whatever you want but if you are going to produce music with them then try to get a flat response as you can and spend as much as you can afford.
