It is ridiculous claiming that video games influence
children. For instance, if Pac-man affected kids born
in the eighties, we should by now have a bunch of
teenagers who run around in darkened rooms and eat
pills while listening to monotonous electronic music.

Talking excuses

Media/Parents...are looking for anything to blame for their mistakes. Video games, movies...television, whatever it may be. I grew up somewhat restricted from certain shows my Mom didn't think were appropriate to me, but the problem with that was it only made me want to watch them more I was also restricted from watching any R rated movies until I was 12 or 13 I think...when I started watching them at friends houses. Bottom line, it is the parents that teach their children morals, and if that child can't understand the difference between video games/movies and real life, then the parents are the blame.

peace,
Steve

I agree... electronica isn't the evil in our world - narrow-minded people who want to impose their beliefs/values on everyone else is what causes problems..

"No! You can't listen to that! It's evil!"

I got no problems with my parents, they gave me a free education (I can do what I want) and I know what is wrong or right, I think that's the ideal way op bringing up a child.

If you say, you can't buy that, or watch that, than that's another reason for wanting to do that, or buy that.
We shouldn't underestimate children thei ability to choose what they want.

ok im going offtopic a bit...

anyone ever remember that episode of the Simpsons, where Mod (flander's wife) dies, and bart is told to play with rod & todd to comfort them... so they start playing that Bible Blaster 2000 game where the whole objective was to convert people into christians? haha

man, I always look at the flander family from the simpsons as examples of what children might be like if they never got exposed to anything deemed as "bad nature" by the media/parents.. even tho some of thier stuff is waay too exaggerated. lol
