Favorite electronic / synthesizer-heavy soundtracks

My latest has been Mark Isham's work on the movie Crash.

What are some of your favorite soundtracks that feature electronic music pretty prominently?

Wow, Mark Isham's work was amazing in this movie. Dark Ambient at it's finest.

Here are some other amazing scores...

Vangelis- "Bladerunner " no comments...the absolute electronic masterpiece

Vangelis- "The Chariots of Fire"...yes the main theme is over-played but the whole album is amazing.

Edward Artemiev- "Solaris, The Mirror, Stalker". This music is from three of Tarkovsky's cult masterpieces and were composed in the 70s.Lush Electronic music from other worlds.

Cliff Martinez- "Solaris (remake)". The remake raped Tarkovsky's original but Cliff Martinez has done an amazing work here...

Giorgio Moroder- "Midnight Express". To tell you the truth i can't stand giorgio moroder's fast sequencers and childish analogue cheesy melodies but this is a classic. Worth for the "chase" alone.

Clint Manshell & Kronos Quartet- "Requiem for a Dream". Very dramatic...A classic.

Tangerine Dream- "Sorcerer" This was composed in 1977 if i remember by the german kraut electronic masters Tangerine Dream. 70s space music at it's finest.

Asche & Spencer- "Stay"- Mystical and haunting ethereal soundtrack for this dreamy surreal movie.

Edward Shearmur- "K-PAX OST". That was a beautifull electronic piece of work.Minimalistic pianos and electronic tones can produce unbelievable emotion...

Good call. I have only seen a bit of this but I remember being really attracted to the music.

Nice one on K-PAX, too.

I'll mention Fight Club as a film whose music fit really well.

..apart from the already mentioned..

Eric Serra in "Le Grand Bleu" (aka "The Big Blue" for the n00bs )
- Serra's lush ambient soundscapes fit perfectly for the oceanic world featured in the movie. Luc Besson hardly ever fails with his movies and this isn't an exception; one of my fav movies. And please do pick the original full length French version of the soundtrack, not the mutilated US version!

Vangelis in "Nankyoku Monogatari" (aka "Antarctica")
- Vangelis creates a tingling ambient atmosphere which is very fitting to this breezing cold Japanese movie. The movie itself isn't perfect but well worth watching with Vangelis doin' the score; i think it's much better than it probably would have been if someone else would have scored it.

Tantra - Hills Of Katmandu

This disco classic from 1979 sends shivers down my spine.

p.s. - this song uses an analog synth I think, I'm not a producer but I know what t sounds like.

Yes! Absolutely amazing you are right!Very good movie and fantastic deep atmospheric music with such beautifull themes..."marine ambient" indeed...heh.

Antarctica was also great. Vangelis has done another amazing job and the main "antarctica" theme was really perfect!(Another favorite tune is "life in Antarctica").Overall excellent album.

Ermmm ok but which movie is that from?Is "hills of katmandu" the film's name?Isn't "Kadmantu" spelled as "kathmandu"? what this has to do with Alden's italo-disco hit "hills of honollulu"?

Asche & Spencer - Stay
Asche & Spencer - Monster's Ball

Among those already mentioned:

Vangelis - Blade Runner
Cliff Martinez - Solaris

And why the Matrix scores? They're orchestral.
