Ok I’m sorry everyone, and if I’m the only one who feels this way I’ll quickly shut up. But quite frankly I’ve had enough of this whole “DJ” lingo/ attitude, and machismo that has recently swept the board and I want to see if I’m alone.
I mean fine, I’m guilty of posting a set every once a while (usually one a year) or trying to help promote a local event by bumping it, but recently it’s slightly gotten out of hand… The constant DJ jargon of helping to sponsor one’s “gig” or advice on which “bomb” or “gem” to drop next has gone far past exasperating. The continuous roll call hi-jacking, the non-stop “review back scratching” in order to get a future “performance”, the free guestlist passes, the live-set recordings, the location endorsement, the promotional shots, the bumping of a thread with a post bereft of any meaning, the ass kissing, the flyer artwork, the unremitting “stellar” weekly club events held in non-club locations, will the pestering ever stop?
I want to stress that I’m here to support our talent (there is a plenty), however I think this has gone overboard and I think it makes us look cheap. I know this board hasn’t been about trance music for quite some time now, but when did it become a stage for shameless self promotion.

ps. I've only edited the title as it's apparently misleading |
Some of the best parties I have been to in the past year have been local/TA driven, and most who have attended likely would not have known about these events if it weren't for TA. I don't see how it is any different to have an event thread/roll call/party review for these local events, promoting our very own - than it is to do it for any of the 'big' parties out there. If anything, i'm glad that locals are doing their best to reach out to people to gain the much needed support.
Let's face it, TA has changed. People who are expecting it to be what it once was are only kidding themselves. The 'scene' itself has been transformed over the years, so it's only natural that the message boards representing it will do the same.
Bottomline, it's like anything around here. If you don't like cars, don't click on the car threads.... if you don't like 'shameless promotion', then ignore it. Appeasing the entire community is absoutely impossible, and I think there is enough random variety on this message board to keep at least most of us, somewhat happy.
