Technics Fader

Iv searched threads and searched google but now its time to just make a new post...
If i buy a SFDZ122N11-3 (m3d pitch fader) for my sl1200mk2 will it work with the pcb thats already in there for the mk2 pitch fader? Will i need to buy an m3d along with a pcb?

Anyone know of stores that sell them for a good price?
Don't post telling me to just mod the ones I have because they are realy stuffed.

I asked this once before and was told that the only difference is that the click is not there (an easy mod on the old one) and that the button which is used for (I think) return to zero (tho not sure how it works) wont function - kinda obvious as mk2 doesn't have one.

So the fader 'should' just swap out of the pcb with the new one.

As for where to get:
http://panasonic.com.au/support/service%5Fcentres/

Find one near you and give them the part number. This is what I found to be the cheapest option rather than ordering what I needed off the web. 1200s.com also supplies from US but they just about double whatever price your basket comes to for shipping, and I found picking up locally less pricey even just for cost of parts.

N.B. to get part numbers I used the 1200s.com website.

When you say they're stuffed - what is wrong with them? if you've not pulled them appart, maybe you can to see if you can 'fix' After all won't cost you anymore than replacing anyway except for your time.

The faders are probably 10 years old now and they jump widly around at different percentages. On one of them it doesnt even hold it at zero properly (up and down by about .02%).
Iv found the place and im going to buy mk2 faders and mod them to get rid of the quartz and the click. It will about $20 cheaper per pitch fader.

Sounds more like it needs to be recalibrated:-

http://www.stephensykes.com/blog_perm.html?110

Have a read of that first before you spend cash.

As for quartz lock removal:-

http://www.deepattitude.com/turntable_modifications.htm

This seems more accurate than some others I've read which says to just disconnect a wire or two.

I was speaking to one of the guys down at VW and I was describing the way it jumps around and he thinks i should just get them serviced because it could be more than just the pitch controll.
But to get them fully serviced takes weeks

Don't live in Melbs so I can't vouch for em, tho they seem respected on this site. I think you'd find they'd probably do the calibration thing anyway, clean the faders by removal and dismantling them, and maybe oil the spindle (the bit that the platter sits on to rotate). Not sure what else they could do really.
Really you could do it yourself and save the dosh

Incidently, I just found this on djforums.com
quote:
remove the click and the dead space is gone. I bought a fader for a m3d and it was the same part as the mk2 but without the little ball that makes the click

Also out of interest:
quote:
Its just a 0% lock button. If you have the pitch all the way up, then hit the button, it should return to 0% (the motor, not the actual slider).

If you move the pitch slider to a different location while the button is supressed, then release the button, the pitch of the motor should go from 0% (because the button was supressed) to whatever the new pitch position is.
