Anyone know how to fix headphones? My a8's died :(
Basically I've been using a pair of Bang and Olufsen a8's for about 2+ years now and the left ear finally gave. I think the wires got loose and was wondering if anyone here knew of a fix for it. I've read a few things about possibly putting on another headphone jack by stripping the wires and somehow soldering it (wayyy too complicated for me).
I don't want to toss them obviously since they cost around $275 cdn and have been using my Sony mdr-v700's instead *just at home*. I love the a8's having used a bunch of other ones so I would really appreciate anyone's help here. My guy also has a background in electrical engineering so maybe he can help if someone points me in the right direction.

2+ years sound very poort for B&O, can't you take them back to store / call customer support? They must be under warranty surely?
My Senheiser headphones are still going, only needed to by replacement headphone cable.

well there may be indeed no other alternative than changing the earphone jack or perhaps it is loose inside the earphones directly?!
here is the pinout of the jack
1 Right
2 Left
3 Ground
As the cord for the A8s make it difficult to determine at the end of the lead where the connector is which is left and right inside he will have to:
solder the ground
plug in the connector to an audio source
test out the leads from the cable by making them touch either the left or right pins to see which is left and right by listening to the earphones
once he's determined which is left and right in the leads he'll need to solder them to the connector

B&O has unfortunately become a dump company for certain products ...
The A8s have some known issues with the jack unfortunately

Meaning they now make shoddy products?
