I just ordered this bit of kit from agiprodj. Really looking forward to mixing on the 800. I also want to use it with ableton. Any recommendations for a midi controller/audio card? I was looking at the e-mu 0404. Can I use this or should I be looking at something else? I don't plan on hooking anything else up to the card except the mixer.

firstly congrats, the 800 is damn solid...if you have any questions about it feel free to pm. as far as controllers and audio cards go what are you looking to do? do you use ableton a lot already? have you developed a set strategy yet? personally i use a hybrid technique going back and forth between cdj's and ableton as needed (depending on where i'm going and what im wanting to do). some people only have the master from ableton running into a single channel in the 800, others have multiple "decks" from ableton running into individual channels on the 800...what exactly do you want to do?

I want to use ableton and the cdjs to do live sets over the internet. so I will be using 3 sources for mixing and all of it will go through winamp to stream. I also want to use the midi functionality of the 800 to control ableton.

you mention your only planning on using 3 sources, so im assuming 2 channels on your 800 devoted to cdj's and the other channel for ableton? if this is correct then you should go for a low-end interface...i recommend the m-audio audiophile it has everything you're going to need. controller is up to, it just depends on your style...for a while i was fine with my oxygen8 which i use for production as well as tweaking a couple effects when mixing but now that im using ableton more for dj'ing ive purchase a novation remote sl zero (which i also highly recommend).

Where'd you get it from? I'm in the market for a djm800...

can't i just use the 800 as the controller? all i need is a midi interface between the mixer and the laptop, right?

got the e-mu 0404 midi interface. hooked it up to the dn-x300 as the djm wont be here till tuesday. couple things. no sound through the computer. the meter on the e-mu is jumping. when the usb cable is hooked up to the laptop the volume control buttons on the laptop no longer work. when i disconnect the cable they start working again. also the i have to wiggle the headphone jack when plugged into the e-mu, i think the jack has a bad connection to the pcb. and the sound is very low compared to when the headphones are plgged into the mixer. at this point i really hate the e-mu. any suggestions. the e-mu was brand new btw.
