you gotta be fckn kidding me. ok 1 thing about oakenfold that the real aficionados already know and the others dont is that oakenfold has a BROOOOOOAAAAD RANGE of sound. first he did house. then goa trance
then off the island of ibiza he made trance ( now known as progressive trance/house) then he got more progressive then he got poppy mainstream then this then that.
this man has gave the scene its original sound track. a man who has djing since ive been alive and made a damn good living out of it should deserve more respect. u cant go to a depeche mode concert expecting them to play all their new shit. i mean those guys have been around for ever and its up to the to play to the sound they feel
sry i may be young but i know my oakie sounds better than anyone else i know. i liked his set. very oldschool trance stuff. and some of the new stuff. when i got to hang wit him he was in the best mood ive ever seen him in houston. hes really great guy when nothing goes wrong. thank you planeta bar rio for being sucha great damn near flawless venue !!!
as for tiesto...i cant really say i enjoyed the show. i was back stage the whole time... and he played his new stuff... and some old remixess... i cant really say i was captivated. but hes a kool guy as well. mad respect for the work hes put in.
idk man like i said. u cannot pigeon hole oakenfold to one sound. hes so damn diverse and whatever sound he may be into @ the moment hes doin it full blast.
and if u go to see anyone expecting them to play one thing or stick to one genre youll always let yourself down. oakenfold didnt let anyone down.
personally i wish he would have dropped some damn another world tracks on there. or open with one of the songs that were on that cd.
ne ways who else feels the same ? who else wants to attack me with black cat quetes !?!? |
I gotta agree with you Lizandro. You gotta give the man props for what he's done. Ive been spinning for a little over 2 years now and its not easy what those guys do. Ive always dreamed of becoming someone like Armin or PVD, but fuck, that is alotta work and time to be putting into music. In fact, I dont even know how Armin does it with school + asot's and gigs. Last thing I heard he was still in school for Law in Holland.
I can understand where surf is coming from though. There has been a lot of mainstream business being put in by these dj's and its making us think they are slowly deteriorating in the trance scene. But thats not always true. Last time Oakey came to houston and I saw him, I didnt go in there expecting a TranceEnergy 2006 event, or Armin Only kinda shit. I know how Oakey's gonna perform. I either go there just to watch the guy go at it with the tables, or I go watch him just to show my support, and thank him for being part of the influence that introduced me into trance music. I would definitly never condone Oakey's work....unless he starts going into rap and tries to be like Eminem.
