I am excited to be coming to Toronto to party and club this weekend!!
Originally from Vancouver - but am living and working in Ottawa for a while and this is my first opportunity to come down to T.O.
So I just have a couple of questions about the scene - and I trust TA'ers to know best! But first of all know that, I need some trance!! Badly!! Or at least a night with a good nice vibe - and some killer progressive - throw some electro house in for good measure (I am very music picky too). But the last good trance night I went to (in Vancouver) was way too long ago.
Toronto is thought of as the best place in Canada for some trance (of which I'm going to emphasize that I know it's still not incredible or anything). But can you guys make some suggestions of where I should go for my Friday and Saturday night? I care about the club itself - gotta be wicked - the people that go - the vibe - and etc. Are there any hidden gems - even smaller places that are worth it cuz they just are?
That leads me to the Guvernment. It will be my first time going - so which night might a trance girl like me enjoy more?
Anyway, please let me know where the good party is at!! And perhaps I'll see ya there?! LiSa
(my Myspace used to be A LOT more elaborate - slideshows - video links - etc. but it just got hacked last weekend - well phished - and so is basic again. read my blog so this doesnt happen to yours as well.)

Trance girls are soooo cute!
Unfortunately Guv's 'trance' scene on Sat is seriously lacking.. unless an international trance DJ is booked. Mark Oliver, the resident, spins mostly house these days, and all the other rooms are just house too.
But, he'll surprise you here and there. Last weekend his 6am fucking closing set was a MASSIVE fuckign techno one! I was shocked and blown away - it's like he read my mind.
Maybe if you go on Saturday, ur best bet for trance is still Guv AFAIK, u'll get lucky.
I dont know if Viva is still having trance/progressive on their Friday nights (Viva's in Markham) since they changed booking organizations.
"Chicklet" on TA would know though, you could PM her.

Hmmm I'd say Guv on the Saturday as well because I don't think there are any trance parties with bignamed djs this weekend, you'll still have a good time compared to parties in O town. Enjoy TO and if you've never been to Guv I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Thank-you for the info!!
** I've already heard about The Docks - considering it - but seriously I don't like plain old house with lyrics * Sigh * Can anyone confirm the sets might be more on the Proggy/Electro side?

Its Morillo this weekend, and there are more house heads on here than trance heads now... more than half the board shold be able to tell you what kinda house he is (not me though, as i WAS a trance guy and now im a techno guy... not up on house music)

Morillo is pretty good and he might play some proggy electro but I wouldn't be surprised if he adds vocals)...You might be better off hitting up This is London on Friday, forget who's playing there this Friday but it's in the event thread Dallas posted. (allo Dallas) :P
