Trance: Why does it sound so terrible when played really loud?
Hello, kinda new to the forums, taking a chance at my very own thread (yay!). So the title says it all: Why does trance sound so crappy when you hear it really loud at a "party?" I've been to "parties" before where they've got the trance/house main room, a side room for jungle and a side room for hardcore. I've got to say, even though I love trance, it's more fun being in the jungle or hardcore rooms. I haven't been to a club yet because I just turned 21, so I don't know if they are any different.
When I play trance at home on my little sound system, it sounds great! You can hear all of the layering in the tracks, the individual melodies and beats, it's just fantastic! Then I go to a huge "party" and the same track sounds like crap. All I can hear is the *thump* *thump* and then a little *doodley* *doodley*, then back to *thump* *thump*. Jungle tracks sound so cool when the bass flares out and the beat rolls back in, and hardcore makes your head explode. Does trance suck because they play it in the main room and the sound system can't handle it? Maybe melodic trance doesn't lend itself to being played loud? Anyone in the know, please enlighten me.
