Numark Axis 9 getting a lot of thumbs up

Hi guys,

I was going to buy a set of CDJs and after much research and asking quiete a few people, Numark Axis 9s seemed all the rave right now.

The older models used to suck, but there's been a lot of editing mods and upgrades done to the newer Axis 9s, and they seem like great CDJs from the 2 people I know that have used them or Axis 8s. The effects are good, the jog wheel has finally been perfected. Loop-in/out etc.

Even after reading many reviews, the latest reviews from customers seem to suggest that they are happy with their buys, and a lot of them really say that these are great CDJs for people looking for mid-range CDJs, and highly recommend them to other people. A few ppl I noticed even said that if you take into account price, they're a hell of a lot better than CDJ1000MK2s.

I even read people talking about how Numark was trying to break into the higher-end market with these CDJs, and any future upgrades to the model.

Oddly, I don't see much on them here at the TA threads, especially for mid-range CDJs.

Why is that?

Why is that?

have you used them?

I get irritated, becasue I get completely conflicting views outside TA.

Everyone here sleeps with pio gear everynight, next to them, in their beds. They sing lullabies to them, and caress the pios to sleep.

Which does not mean they are better than the 1000s.

What it means is that they are better value than the 1000s.

people like the pioneers because they are proven workhorse dj gear

they take a beating and ask for more

after 4 years of RIGOROUS club use and being moved around and packed up our djm-600 is finally starting to show signs of use, the booth monitor pot crackles and the grounding post is getting a little shoddy

the cdj lines perform like they should and you expect, i've yet to have a major problem with a pioneer cdj

anyone serious about djing owns some sort of pioneer gear

i used to have the axis 9 the newer model. the newer model believe it or not is worse than the older one (the one with thte blue screen) the older model featured digital outs and midi. the newer version scrapped these (the current red screen one) probablyto make the units cheaper. they are ok units and usable the looping is very very good, but if you dont need the scratch funtion id get sumthin like the cdj200 which is exactly wot i did.

THanks for that.

What did you type into search to get all that info? I couldn't find anything on them.

This is already in an above post...but hey, I KNOW 90% of you reading this are too lazy to click the links, and I think the Axis 9 needs a fair say like any other product.

I'm suprised at how idiotic people get when it comes to gear, its all personal preference and if your working with a budget, why fork out over a grand for CDJ1000's? I meen jesus christ, unless you really think your going places with DJ'ing, save that money and buy better tracks for god sakes. Having even 800's wont make you sound better...anyway heres my review-

I have purchased two Numark Axis 9's after owning starting out on the Axis 2's. Now before everyone laughs and flames about Numark, my Axis 2's were fabulous and reliable, but simply just that, equipment for starting out. Now let me share a wee story about the Axis 9's.

After seeing the 100 dollar price drop, I thought nothing could be of better value then to basically upgrade my current CD player to a more advanced one with the same look and feel. However, to make a long story short, a very common problem with the Axis 9's is a unable to read cd error as well as cd tray jams, and random skipping. This happened with TWO Axis 9's, and I have also seen it occur on the premium Numark dual decks at a local club I play at, (which we immediatley switched to Denon's)
I currently use in my own setup one completley functional Axis 9 and an old axis 2...why??? Simply because I LOVE the interface as well as asthetic appeal of the Axis 9's. With 3 hot stutter starts and loads of effects as well as scratching capabilities, I feel its the CD player for me.
But I will say this, Numark is NOT reliable, and you are taking a risk in buying their equipment (except for a select few mixers ie. DXM09 ftw!) I have used everything from DVJ 3000's to the CDJ200, and in some ways prefer my Axis 9's even over the 3000's...in some ways
Buy what you believe is the best equipment for you and holds the features that you want but keep everything from reliability and cost still in mind. And know its definitley a bitch when CD players skip and freeze while playing to a crowd of 600....

Then again? Are you going to be playing in front of 600 people? Or just need some fun decks for home use? I believe it or not despite these problems, love my gear, and I feel they're the ones for me, just like something else might be for you.

Its not a matter of gear making you sound better is a matter of it being more comfortable and more fun to play on.
