help with decks...amatuer

i have been bedroom dj'in for about 4 months or so and ive gotten the hang of beatmatching. i use 2 technics turntables and i am thinking about gettin a cd deck as well... are there things that you can do with a cd deck that cant be dont with a turntable.. also im curious of how to make remixes using only vocals from one album and music on the other. i can turn down the bass and mid alittle to get more of a vocal sound but is there a way to cut the music out completely? or do you just mix the whole 2 songs together?

Depends on the CDJ you end up getting but a few quick things you can only do on CDJ is stuff like:

Setting & storing loops
Setting & storing cue points (either on board memory where they can be recalled whenever you play that CD or store on memory card to take with you & use elsewhere)
Hot cue/loops means you can really mess about with the track & jump between them as you please
Quick return (instant return to your cue point as soon as you touch the platter, for scratching etc)
Greater pitch range (i think!) - CDJ800 has +/- 100%
Some CDJ's have FX built in

No, you won't be able to create an acapella from a full track by using CDJ's (or vinyl decks or software)

Another CDJ only thing I just thought of is Master Tempo. It works great on vocals as you can adjust the pitch quite considerably without turning the vocalist into a chipmunk

if your going to get cdjs get two. imade the mistake of just buying one and its really frustrating not being able to mix new tracks you downloaded into each other.

depending on how much you want to dish out id start with some cdj800mk2....and if you want to go all out (though its not necessary unless you NEED 3 hot cues) 1000mk3s are the industry standard for cds right now
