Re: Thinking in buying two cd decks
Read up some more, and do some searches
Your budget for CD decks is the key to us making a suggestion for what you should buy:
- Fairly cheap - The Pioneer CDJ-200 is probably the most recommended deck in the low-mid price range. It's great for mixing on (very accurate), has a few effects built-in.
- Mid-priced - The Pioneer CDJ-800MK2 uses the same style of jog wheel as the more expensive CDJ-1000, and it's a nice player. The Denon DN-S3500 is also in this price range, and is supposedly a decent deck (but some people seem to HATE it, so check it out for yourself).
- High-priced - The Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 is the king in this category (actually, it's the ONLY CD player priced this high these days). It's definately a great player, but you'll have to ask yourself if the features it offers over the CDJ-800 are really worth it.
As for where to get your music... yes, we basically all download from Beatport and all the other download sites. You won't be able to find much on actual CD's in stores. I always burn my CD's as regular audio cd's. Some of the newer players (all the Pioneers and the Denon I mentioned above) can play MP3 cd's, but I don't recommend it as if you ever play out they probaly won't have the latest CDJ's.
The mixer... well you could keep your 2 channel mixer, and use the phono/line switches to switch back and forth.
If you really want a 4 channel mixer, I wouldn't recommend the DJM-600 at this point. It's rather dated, and there are much better options at this point in time. A few of them:
On the higher end:
- Allen + Heath Xone 92 (this mixer is actually more the industry standard in higher end clubs than the DJM-600 at this point)
- Pioneer DJM-800
- Ecler Nuo-5
Mid-priced:
- Ecler Nuo-4
- Allen + Heath Xone 62 (kinda old nowadays, but still very decent)
- Denon DN-X1500

The fact is that I don't know which ones are the best or even the prices. so any advice here would be really usefull for me...
Then I have to buy a new mixer, I got a 2 channels mixer so at least I need a 4 channels one. I thought in buying the standard mixer in most of the clubs the Pioneer DJM-600 or 600-S. any experience with this one? another advice?
Then after having the required stuff, what do you cd dj's do?
do you buy the tracks on beatport, juno... or any other music store and then you burn the tracks into a cd format?? or where do you get the cd's?
thanks, |
