Detroit-born, Chicago-and-Berlin-based Alan D. Oldham has been called "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man" (Muzik, UK). A lifelong cartoonist and graphic designer, a young Oldham published his own comic book "Johnny Gambit" in 1987 to local notoriety. Hired that same year by Derrick May to illustrate several memorable pieces for the new Transmat label, led to Oldham's first involvement in the fledgling techno scene. Under his alias DJ T-1000, he has rocked crowds in Berlin, Rome, Warsaw, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and all points in between with his own brand of funky-ass techno. When he's not behind the decks or producing music for labels like Tresor Berlin, Pure Sonik and xfive, he's an illustrator who has shown in galleries in Chicago, Paris and Los Angeles. Showcasing his own productions, this fearless operator truly encompasses all that is "Electronica", combining film music with New Wave melodies, monotone club anthems with Grunge-inflected guitar feedback.
